Collective Team
We provided workplace consulting and interior design services from Cat A for a fully open plan, 35,000sqft agile environment for a law firm that had previously assigned wholly cellular space to fee earners.
Varied work settings and an all day operational café provide variety and choice for staff in selecting a place to work.
The project duration from our appointment to client occupation was 7 months and the procurement route was 2 stage.
Through rapid client engagement at senior management level it was determined very early on in the briefing process that, in response to the desire for greater interaction and collaboration all staff, fee-earners of all levels included, should work in open-plan accommodation with access to a range of enclosed and semi-enclosed spaces for cognitive and collaborative working.
On day one every staff member had an assigned workplace but workplace agility was factored into the planned growth in headcount.
Investment in IT systems enabled a significant initial reduction in paper storage and the firm determined to eliminate paper via document scanning and electronic storage.
A consensus of opinion amongst the client group determined that the design vocabulary for the new workplace should be somewhat Scandinavian in style with an emphasis on creating a bright and uplifting ambience with a sense of calm and well-being throughout.
Time utilisation studies identified the need for a recalibration of meeting room sizes and numbers. Being fewer in number than previously was the case, the meeting rooms are designed to be flexible in size and adaptable in use with a higher quality provision regarding IT/AV systems.
The overall provision of variety and choice in the workplace is now more supportive of staff needs at every level.
