The multi award-winning building includes 10,000sqm of offices and a separate conference and restaurant facility; a glass roofed atrium allows daylight to flood into the heart of the building, while offices enjoy spectacular views.
Office floorplates can accommodate cellular offices and open plan areas which facilitate change when the company preferences and new technologies evolve.
Originally the brief called for a building which provided individual offices for 60% of the population, but once a detailed briefing process had been completed it was felt that a totally open approach might lack group identity, but users did require good communications.
As teams varied in size and structure, a solution was developed that provided small open team spaces with close relationships between Brand Managers and their groups. Individual offices for 25% of the population were arranged in such a way that they could be removed to provide larger open spaces if required which was seen as a desirable objective to ensure that the building met institutional requirements in the future.
At completion, the building was winner of numerous prestigious awards including:
- RIBA / Sunday Times Stirling Prize for Building of the Year – finalist
- RIBA National Award
- RIBA Regional Award (South East Region)
- MIPIM European Commercial Building Award
- Civic Trust Award Commendation
- RIBA Downland Design Award for Architecture
- BALI National Landscape Award for Soft Landscape
