Planning Consent for 535 Kings Road

Main entrance to 535 Kings Road

We are pleased to announce that our refurbishment of ‘The Plaza’ on Kings Road, designed for CEG, has been granted full planning consent by the Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea.

The Plaza has been home to countless dynamic new businesses over the years, many of which have grown into very successful companies. It will continue to offer inspiring incubator space, as well as attractive accommodation for larger occupiers. It will also provide more flexible spaces that can compete with others available in Chelsea and West London and be an inspiring environment which the businesses within are proud to call home.

Section through the consented scheme

As existing tenancy constraints restrict the ability to substantially remodel the scheme in a single phase, the proposals in the consented scheme provide tangible upgrades to workspace and amenities as well as improved efficiency in a tightly constrained site with significant phasing and logistical challenges. This planning consent enables CEG to renew and extend the life of the existing building on an ambitious and holistic level.

The building upgrade includes a reconfigured entrance and reception, improved ground floor amenities, façade upgrades and additional utility space. It is part of CEG’s drive to enable and build collaborative communities within their properties while evolving them to create productive, collaborative, attractive and healthy places to work.

View of the new courtyard

With the upgrade of The Plaza, there has been an opportunity to invest in and deliver a more modern working environment, providing spaces within which people can meet, engage and collaborate. Additional floors and a comprehensive new façade treatment will ensure the development is not only repositioned in the marketplace, but also reinvented and refreshed to the general public.
