The Future of the Office

Tom Alexander has recently been interviewed by James Fransham of the Economist for a podcast in their ‘Money Talks’ series on the ‘Future of the Office‘, published on the 31st of December.

In the podcast, Tom talks about some of the workplace R+D he and his team have undertaken, looking to sheds for inspiration in creating agile new multi level volumes, as well as the primal influence of territories in school design on the workplace under the rubric of ‘Nursery to Boardroom’. We have developed a design for buildings that offer an agile approach, allowing for a variety of work settings from large interactive volumes to quiet solo spaces. We call this a sustainable Chassis that is very simple in its form and servicing but which has multiple possible versions, from low level to sky rise, as well as in new or existing buildings. The Chassis is able to accommodate 3D changes to the working spaces, but is also able to be adapted for educational, residential and leisure uses.

Also featured in the podcast are Harry Badham of Axa Real Estate and Despina Katsikakis of Cushman & Wakefield, Tim Oldham of the Leesman Index and Professor Joe G Allen of Harvard University. You can access the podcast on Apple Podcasts – Money Talks: Work in Progress.
