Hotel entrance

A new build, 4* plus hotel which is linked to Norman Foster’s terminal at Stansted Airport, via a covered walkway.

BAA’s brief required a sympathetic building with simple, elegant proportions clad in steel and glass.  The hotel interior is designed to continue this theme while creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.

The hotel has 500 guestrooms in Rezidor’s standard room styles, three restaurants, banqueting suite, conference facilities and 25 meeting rooms.

The large central atrium is dominated by a four-storey glass wine tower, featuring 4000 bottles of wine.

This feature involved detailed development with structural engineers, wine storage experts and a circus / theatre company to design the computerised winches for wine angels to ‘fly’ through the tower.
