Collective Team
As base build delivery architects for 62 Buckingham Gate, London W1 we were invited to competitively bid for the design of Schlumberger’s new London headquarters in the building, situated over floors 9-11.
We collaborated closely with Schlumberger’s in-house workplace, programme management and IT/AV specialist teams to achieve state of the art presentation facilities and a workplace design that complied with their global occupancy standards while creating a more open-plan and inclusive environment.
In this context, we developed new design standards that set a precedent for subsequent roll-out projects in Paris and Houston, Texas.
Our services included workplace consulting, space planning and Cat B workplace design from Cat A and the project was managed via a 2-stage tender process.
The main reception and adjacent meeting rooms can be opened up to create a large space for 300 people via glass sliding partitions.
Despite the high percentage of cellular offices and meeting rooms that wrap the perimeter of each floor, the minimalist design of the partition system maximises daylight ingress and minimises the visual impact of partitions.
Framed glass sliding doors achieve high acoustic ratings.
Three months into the six month construction programme the client executive team requested that, in place of the 30 person board room (which was already under construction) a 50-seat raked auditorium was required.
The auditorium was successfully designed and delivered within the remaining 3 month programme.
